Thursday, 1.30pm: The 50th Flower Parade will take place on Saturday, May 3, in Spalding and promises to be a spectacular celebration.
The parade, with its theme of Thanks for the Memories, includes specially designed floats with up to 500,000 fresh tulip heads to present a dazzling display.
Parading with the traditional floats will be purpose-built music trailers carrying live performances by local theatre groups and schools.
No parade would be complete without marching bands and this 50th parade is no exception.
Bands are coming from all over central England to delight the crowd with their marching prowess and music.
To complete the experience, there is the carnival.
A dedicated team has been working with more than 300 children to produce costumes and dance performances to delight the young and not-so-young.
Being the 50th parade celebrations, everyone will be expecting something extra special – and they will not be disappointed.
The parade will leave Springfields at 2pm and make its way to its finale at the Sir Halley Stewart Field, Winfrey Avenue, near the bus station in the centre of town, where it will be welcomed by all the spectators enjoying the festivities there.
At the Sir Halley Stewart Field there is a host of activities to delight the most discerning of visitors.
There will be two performances by the world famous Royal Signals Motor Cycle Display team The White Helmets in the afternoon before the parade arrives to be greeted by the crowds in celebratory mood.
In the evening to continue the celebrations there will be They will Rock You musical tributes to Queen, Status Quo and Elton John.
For the first time the finale at the end of the day will be the lighting of the floats as darkness approaches.
In the field there will also be games, stalls and fun for all.
The profits from the day will be for Action Medical Research, whose mascot Paddington will be there to celebrate as he is also celebrating his 50th birthday.
