Jazz weekend at Manor House
Monday - A WEEKEND of hot bebop and swinging jazz will be held at the Manor House and the Half Moon Hotel, Alford, between Friday and Sunday, July 11-13.
The event will start on the Friday, at 7pm, with a jazz supper at the Half Moon Hotel, featuring Grimsby based band Gentle Jazz. Admission is by advance ticket only, priced at £20.
The Saturday lunchtime concert will be in the Half Moon gardens between 1-4pm, featuring popular jazz mavericks The Swingfellas, and the Back of the Moon Band. Admission is £5.
On Saturday night, nine-piece band Shiny Stockings will play music for listening and dancing in the Manor House marquee, between 8-11pm.
Listeners can drift off into a jazz trance as the band perform music from the swing era.
There will be a barbecue and a bar, and admission is £10.
Sunday afternoon will see a jazz picnic at the Manor House, with New Orleans style music from Tony Orme and the Saratoga Jazz Ensemble.
People can take their own food and drink to the event, and food and ale will also be available from the Manor House cafe and bar. Admission is £5.
The event will close with a jazz gig at the Half Moon on Sunday night, between 8-11pm, when four of Lincolnshire's most prestigious players - Rick Woolgar, tenor sax, Pat McCarthy, guitar, Warren Jolly, slap bass, and John Perry, drums - will perform. Admission is £5.
