NOSTALGIA: Spotlight on Scouts for Gang Show in 1960
Dating from 1960, this is among the oldest Scouting photographs the Standard has in its archives.
The picture relates to the annual and international tradition of Gang Shows – a Scout-based variety performance.
The first-ever Gang Show was held at London’s Scala Theatre in 1932.
The production ran for three nights and was staged to raise funds for a swimming pool at a Scout campsite near the capital.
