Dog micro-chipping sessions announced

East Lindsey District Council has added another set of dates to its dog micro-chipping roadshow.

Figures released by the Dog’s Trust suggest that the number of stray dogs is at an 11 year high and the council hopes that micro-chipping will help address the issue.

To date, the council has micro-chipped over 1,200 dogs in the community.

The microchip costs just £10 and is the size of a grain of rice. It contains all the owners contact details and is inserted in the dog’s shoulder blade, causing no discomfort.

The next local dog micro-chipping sessions will take place at Tpwer Esplanade in Skegness outside the RNLI shed on Friday, November 16 from 10am to noon.

This will be followed by an event at Wainfleet Market Place from 1pm to 3pm on the same day.

Sherwood Field Car Park in Mablethorpe will host a session on November 29 from 10am to noon, with another event scheduled for near the paddling pool/Meridale Centre in Sutton on Sea from 1pm to 3pm on the same day.

For more information on the micro chipping campaign, and an updated list of all the clinics that carry out micro-chipping in East Lindsey, contact the council on 01507 601111 or email dog.warden@e-lindsey.gov.uk.
