ONE of Skegness’s oldest residents, Joyce Collett, recently died in Salisbury Hospital at the age of 93.

Joyce was born in Westwoodside, Lincolnshire but moved to the east coast just after the Second World War with her husband, Ernest Sharman, who was Education Officer for around 60 schools in the area.

They had two daughters who both attended Skegness Grammar School. Ernest sadly died in 1989, just before their 50th wedding anniversary.

After ten years alone Joyce met Harry Collett, who had lost his first wife at a similar time and was now living in the same group of retirement flats.

At the grand age of 80 she remarried. They enjoyed 13 years together, still in Skegness, but very recently finally decided to take the plunge and move to Wiltshire to be near both her daughters and their families.

Joyce was very happy to be in Warminster and quickly had her new home organised beautifully. Characteristically she was already planning more shopping and trips in the local area but sadly she was taken into hospital a few days after their move; she died peacefully six days later. She leaves Harry and her two daughters.
