Young novelist wins competition
Short story competition winner Jake Tomlinson.
A BUDDING young author impressed judges with his macabre horror tale to take the top spot in a recent short story competition.
12-year-old Jake Tomlinson’s spooky story The Cannibal’s Kitchen fended off talented opposition to be crowned the victor in Skegness Library’s competition. Site coordinator Sarah Broome said: “It was a very clever tale with an unexpected twist at the end and rather gruesome too.”
The competition was run as a follow-up to a creative writing workshop hosted by Skegness author William Hussey at the library earlier this year.
It featured a children’s and adults category, which was entered by around 25 aspiring novelists. The library hopes the competitions may lead to further creative sessions and the creation of a regular writing group. To find out more visit the library on Roman Bank, Skegness.
