Village News: Croft

WI - Croft Marsh WI’s presidents, Anne and Trisha, welcomed 18 members and two guests to their October meeting.

The speaker for the evening was Dawn Blunden, who had a cake-making establishment and shop in Woodhall Spa.

Dawn’s talk told members how she became a cake maker to royalty. It all started through her son, as he is a chef at Highgrove.

Dawn does all her baking and decorating at home.

The photographs that Dawn brought, to show the group her work, where hailed as ‘absolutely brilliant’ by members.

“She’s a very clever lady - no wonder she gets the commissions that she does,” said a spokesperson.

Two birthday gifts were given.

October competition results were - Decorated Cup Cake - 1, Trisha Nation; 2, Chris Padley; Flower of the Month - 1, Joy Scott; 2, Trisha Nation; 3, Chris Padley.

Croft Marsh WI meets on the second Thursday in the month. Everyone is welcome. Their speaker for November is Denise Harrison and her subject will be “History of Sewing with a demo”.
