Village News: Burgh le Marsh

CONCERTS -It has been a busy time for the Monday Club members and friends with two coach trips to the Thursford Christmas spectacular.

Included in the price were coffee and mince pies on the outward journey and a carvery on the return journey.

Last Tuesday there was a coach trip to Birmingham for the Andre Rieu orchestra and Johann Strauss dancers in concert at the LG Arena at the NEC.

It transpired that it was exactly 25 years to the day since Andre formed his orchestra.

It was a fantastic evening which concluded with the appearance of a pipe band. Certainly a night to remember. Thanks were expressed to Mrs Chris Bassford for organising the outings and to Nick the coach driver.

EVENTS - Congratulations to the Burgh Events committee on another superb Christmas events weekend which kicked off on the Saturday at the windmill site.

The local school entertained with carols and Pastor Colin Bowden also contributed.

This was followed with a visit from Santa who dispensed presnts to all the children attending. The basement of the windmill had been converted into Santa’s Grotto. There was hot soup and a hog roast.

On the Sunday all the action transferred to the village hall where there were various craft stalls. The Events committee thank all for their help and support in making the weekend a success.

It will be followed at 4pm by Sung Evensong.
