Village News: Burgh le Marsh

WI - The Burgh Choir Academy, conducted by Debbie Boulton, entertained members at the May WI meeting.

The 11 choristers sang a variety of beautiful songs from Singing in the Rain to Rule the World, concluding with Thank You for the Musiic.

The singing was excellent and members wanted more. After the music everyone enjoyed welcome refreshments provided by Margaret Pisarska.

During the business which preceded the meeting it was announced the Marshwold quiz would take place in the WI Hall on Wednesday, May 16.

There will be a Diamond Jubilee party on Monday, June 4 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The competition for a keepsake was won by Gizelle Gillings, Sarah Higgins and Jane Dinsdale,

Flower of the month winners were Rosemary Payne, Pamela Vessey and Jane Dinsdale,

The Hall is available for hire on Mondays and Wednesdays. Phone 01754 811159 for details.

MEET AND EAT - The next ‘Meet & Eat’ session at Burgh Baptist Church will take place this Saturday, May 19 at 12.30pm.

“The sessions are a great opportunity to meet new people while enjoying a wholesome meal, which includes scrummy homemade desserts,” said a spokesperson.

Proceeds from the meal are in aid of charity.

This weekend’s Meet and Eat will feature sausage and mash.

“All are welcome to come along to this popular event where food, friendship and fundraising are the recipe for a delightful time,” added the spokesperson.

MONKSTHORPE SERVICE - This historic chapel will open its doors for a special service to be held on Saturday, May 19 at 3pm.

All are welcome to come along and worship.
