Misconduct allegations against Lincolnshire Police’s chief constable to be dealt with locally
Lincolnshire Police's suspended chief constable Neil Rhodes.
An investigation into potential misconduct by Lincolnshire Police’s most senior officer will be dealt with locally.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which had been referred the investigation into allegations against chief constable Neil Rhodes, has sent the matter back to Lincolnshire.
The county’s police and crime commissioner Alan Hardwick says he will now be carrying out a ‘rigorous’ investigation of his own.
He said: “I welcome the determination made by the IPCC.
“The decision made the IPCC not to carry out their own investigations is understandable and in line with previous determinations they have made on chief officer conduct matters.
“I will be conducting my own independent and rigorous local investigation into the potential conduct matter that were raised.”
Mr Rhodes was suspended from duty on Monday, February 25, after Mr Hardwick was made aware of the allegations.
Deputy chief constable Alec Wood has taken on Mr Rhodes’ role on a temporary basis.
