GYM equipment will be installed at Alford Sports Hall in Hanby Lane after the hall's association received a grant for almost £10,000.
The lottery's Awards For All grant of £9,982 will be used to buy a treadmill, a cross-trainer, an exercise bike, leg weight machines and a multi-use freedom trainer.

Sports hall manager Elaine Oatway said: "This opportunity wouldn't have been possible without the funding from Awards for All. It has taken a lot of effort and consultation to get to this stage considering we started seriously looking at developing the gym area back in 2007.

Ms Oatway said she hoped the equipment would be available for use by the community by September and students from John Spendluffe Technology College will have access to the gym area for PE lessons.

She said: "Our ultimate aim would be to have a full range of new equipment, however financial constraints have not made that possible.

"Hopefully we have selected items that will benefit everyone within our limited budget and the new equipment will be appealing for people to try."

Anyone aged 16 and over will be able to use the equipment between 5.30-10pm.
